I am a Los Angeles-based journalist and novelist who has written Time magazine, People, Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal Asia, The American Spectator, Money magazine, The Far Eastern Economic Review, South China Morning Post, and the Sunday magazines of The Times and Independent in London. I have taught nonfiction feature writing at UCLA Extension. In 1998, my first novel, Give 'em Hell, Hari, about foreign correspondents and postcolonial East-West relations, was published in London.
