Last week, the website TVshowsonDVD announced that the release schedule for classic Doctor Who DVDs to Region 1 had been rearranged, with the Complete Davros Collection and the special edition Remembrance of the Daleks being dropped. Now they have announced that the BBC says that both titles are being prevented from release to the U.S. market for clearance issues.

This is the second time that vague comments about "clearance issues" have scrubbed a planned American release of Doctor Who material; as was reported here last month, 2|Entertain could not get clearance to include the advertised David Tennant/Freema Agyeman/John Barrowman commentary for the episode Last of the Time Lords and thus shipped the box set with their names, but the producer's commentary instead.

As with that change, the question of what could not be cleared by which authority has not been answered. Torchwood TV has an amusing spoof report of Davros being sent to Guantanamo Bay, but American fans are left wondering what will be the next thing to be yanked after it is advertised to us, who is doing it, and why.
