In support of the WGA Writers' Strike, I am happy to announce that 100% of affiliate sales commissions site-wide for Firefox News through December 1st, 2007 will be donated to the Actor's Fund. I wanted to help out, and since my forte is web development, I thought I'd apply a few of those skills to a good cause.

A number of entertainment industry workers have been laid off as a result of the strike -- it's not just the stars and the talent who are out of work, but the people behind the scenes as well. Many crew members, caterers, security guards, assistants and office workers are unemployed until the strike's over, in addition to the writers. These are ordinary, working-class people who are going to have a pretty lousy holiday season.

To help, Firefox News has a new "Virtual Mall" with links to a number of well-known and name-brand companies. You've probably heard of most the affiliates in our Virtual Mall; many of them are brick-and-mortar companies that have storefronts in real world shopping malls. Now you can do your holiday shopping online -- and in the process you'll help make the holidays a bit brighter for a few other folks!

To shop through our Virtual Mall just select a company from one of the links in our menu bar at the top of the page. Firefox News will automatically get a commission from each purchase you make. And then we'll pass 100% of those commissions on to the Actor's Fund. It's as simple as that.

(And if you buy online, you don't have to stand in line with a thousand other people at the mall. Same stores. Same merchandise. No crowds.)

Happy shopping!
