The casting for the sixth installment of the Harry Potter films, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is complete: if you haven't received a call, you've not been selected to be Lavender Brown. Sorry. I didn't get one either. But Jessie Cave did.  Lavender had had a cameo in previous films, but in the Half-Blood Prince, as Ron Weasley's love interest she plays a more prominent role.

According to E! Online Warner Brothers has announced that the casting for the next installment of the Harry Potter series has been finalised  and we'll be seeing familiar faces and some fresh ones too.

We'll see Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson back as Harry, Ron and Hermione and Professor Snape will still be portrayed by the delectable Alan Rickman. Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, David Thewlis, Tom Felton are all there, as are Evanna Lynch and Bonnie Wright as Ginny Weasley.

Helena Bonham Carter is Bellatrix Black Lestrange, and her sister, Narcissa Black Malfoy, is played by Helen McCrory.
These two characters are only present at the beginning of the book, leading to speculation that director David Yates is planning on filming the critically important chapter Spinner's End.

Alas, the lack of Michael Sheen (who played the role in The Queen) or of Tony Blair himself lead me to believe that the opening chapter, The Other Minister, is not going to be a part of the film. Shame.

Oscar winning actor Jim Broadbent will be Horace Slughorn, the new Potions master.

The casting of Voldemort is perhaps the most interesting. In this film, through memories of Dumbledore's or memories he's collected from others,  we see the future Lord Voldemort, then Tom Marvolo Riddle,  as both a child and a teenager.  Teen Tom Riddle will be played by a 16 year old Frank Dillane. Little Tom Riddle is played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who, at nine, will be playing 11 year old Tom as he learns he's headed towards Hogwarts. Hero is the nephew of Ralph Fiennes, who plays the role of the adult Lord Voldemort.

The film is directed by David Yates, who did Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and the script is written by Steve Kloves, who adapted the first four Potter movies.

The movie is due out November 21st 2008.
