The Terry Wogan BBC2 Radio
Children in Need auction has netted a staggering
£37,000 winning bid, from Mark Shift of Clitheroe. At some undisclosed time next year, Mr. Shift will take his wife, his 5-year-old son, and the son's best friend to spend a day on the set of Doctor Who. Escorted by producer Russell T Davis, they will watch filming, get to talk to the stars, and help the sound effects people create special effects and alien voices.
Children in Need has been raising funds all week from radio auctions, ebay auctions, and web and phone donations. The fundraising effort will culminate with an "Appeal Night" special, to be aired on BBC in Britain tonight at 7 p.m. Doctor Who fans in particular will be interested to see how Stephen Moffat's contribution, a special scene between the Fifth and Tenth Doctors, will play out.
