Titan Magazines has announced publication of an official
Supernatural magazine, as reported on
TV Fodder. The first issue
goes on sale November 27, and features an interview with show creator Eric
Kripke on how the series came to be, as well as interviews with stars Jared
Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester, and Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean
Winchester. There's a look behind the scenes with special effects supervisor
Randy Shymkiw, and interviews with the actresses who portray two of the show's
recurring female characters, Alona Tal (who played Jo Harvelle in season two),
and Katie Cassidy (who portrays Ruby in season three).
Based on the information on the website for the magazine, it
looks like this is along the lines of the other official genre show magazines
out there, with posters, images, behind-the-scenes tidbits, and information on
how to get show merchandise. On the heels of the news that CineQuest is
producing busts and action figures, the debut of a magazine seems like more
good news for fans. While the show's ratings are decent for a small network
like The CW, they're relatively small on the television landscape. However, there's
been more media coverage of the series lately, and an increase in show-related
merchandise.
The cult hit follows two brothers as they travel the country
battling ghosts and demons, with a good helping of snark, family drama, and
nifty special effects.
Supernatural airs on The CW on Thursdays at 9ET/8CT.
