According to several sources online, Heroes may be getting a new season finale because of the writers' strike in Hollywood.  Despite hope for an eleventh hour miracle, talks broke down yesterday between the Writers' Guild of America union and the studios.  The strike has already claimed its first victim in that the Heroes spin-off, Heroes: Origins, has been put on indefinite hold.  The spin-off had been intended as a mid-season filler that delved into the pasts of the previous generation's Heroes depicted in the photograph discovered by Matt and Mohinder, including the pasts of Angela Petrelli and Kaito Nakamura.

Unfortunately for Heroes fans, this isn't the only change being made to the Heroes season.  According to several online news sources such as TV Guide Online, in preparation of the impending strike, NBC had filmed an alternate ending to the December 3rd episode.  The new ending would serve as a season finale instead of the original mid-season cliff-hanger.
If the strike had been averted, the hope had been that the ending would be scrapped.  As of yesterday though, the talks have failed and the WGA is going on strike.

The WGA is striking because they feel they are not getting a proportionate share of the profits being made by studios from DVD and online sales of the episodes.  I sincerely hope this can all be resolved soon as I'm not a huge fan of reality and I would really miss my shows.
