Stephen Colbert's quest for running for the White House may have just come to a screeching halt ...

"On the plus side, my body will stop producing bright orange waste. You can read by it."

Stephen Colbert's quest for running for the White House may have just come to a screeching halt.  Despite surprisingly high polling numbers, the executive council of the South Carolina Democratic Party voted 13-3 against allowing Colbert to appear on the presiedntial primary ballot.  He paid the $2,500 fee, which the party requires, and filed the proper forms to run.  However, many on the board considered his bid for the Presidency – which he stated his intention to only conduct in South Carolina – not to be nationally viable.

Party chairwoman Carol Fowler said on the air to Colbert: "I'm afraid that you didn't make the cut.  You won't be on our ballot. … [Y]ou're not quite ready to be President."  She reminded him that there's an election in another four years, and she invited him back to try again.

S.C. Democratic party spokesperson Keiana Page told CNN, "Those candidates who were rejected will receive their checks back," which is hardly a consolation.

Colbert also failed to qualify in time for the S.C. Republican party ballot, which required a filing fee of $35,000.  Sounds like it's time for an independent candidacy to me.  I still want to hear that Impeachment speech.
