David Dobkin is going to sit in the big chair for the "Flash" movie, according to MTV.  Dobkin chatted up the project, including the tagline ("You can’t outrun yourself.") and confirming that the incarnation he's using will be Wally West rather than Barry Allen.  Since the movie is now confirmed to exist in the same universe as the JLA movie, this has led to a much closer examination of the recently-released script tidbits.

In the leaked script, the film opens with a funeral and then flashes (*ahem*) back a week, where Barry Allen is alive and well and having lunch with his wife Iris.  Now the big speculation is that it's Barry's funeral and that the Flash who shows up will be Wally.

The new movie is supposed to be light-hearted, whereas the JLA movie will likely be less so.  Wally's recent appearances in pop media would lend his character to a more comedic role.  Shawn Levy ("Night at the Museum") has already signed to pen the script, so this should be interesting.
