I've had Mary Dreams' painting of Dumbledore and Harry "The Cave" bookmarked for several months because it is truly one of my favorite Harry Potter fan art images. Mary makes very lovely use of light and shadow, creating a mysterious, spooky feel. The style is realistic and the characters are instantly recognizable. Too, the connection between them -- mentor and student -- is very clear.

On the fan fic side of today's recs, I'm giving a nod to, of all improbable crossovers, a meeting of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and M*A*S*H. Shoveling by PaBurke works beautifully. After the end of season seven, the Slayers set a house up next to the home of an elderly -- but nowhere near helpless -- Hawkeye. Hawkeye becomes involved with the girls when one of the Slayers is injured in a fight.

I will say that this is probably one of the better crossovers I've read in a long time. Everyone is in character, it makes sense, there's a perfect amount of snark and sarcasm, and a satisfying ending. Well done.
