Steve Shill is set to bring to life a two-hour "Knight Rider" movie, according to the
Hollywood Reporter. Dave Andron wrote the script, which is going to serve as a backdoor pilot for a new series. The movie is expected to air later this season on NBC.
Knight Rider was of course the kitschy 1980s series starring David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight and William Daniels as the voice of KITT, the car he loved. The remake is coming about due to the popularity of the Michael Bay "Transformers" reboot, also based on a 1980s series about the love between a boy and his car. (Well, it was if you were me, okay?)
Alas, not all is well in Intelligent Automobile Land: Hasselhoff has not been invited back into the driver's seat. His role will be recast. How is The Man Himself taking it? "I think fans will demand that I at least pop up in a cameo," said Hasselhoff to
ContactMusic.com. "I made the show and fans deserve it."
