Anthony Stewart Head has confirmed that Joss Whedon is in talks with the BBC about spin-off miniseries Ripper. CBR caught up with Head at the Spike TV Scream Awards and asked him about the project. Ripper tells the story of Rupert Giles back in London after he leaves the craziness of Sunnydale and winds up getting sucked back into the craziness of Watcherdom.
"It would be a one-off," said Head, "and it would probably be a two hour movie, or a 90 minute movie for TV. We're looking at maybe something in the summer, just kind of depends on the availability of rights and things." When asked about his role in upcoming "Repo: The Genetic Opera," Head said, "I get to rip people's body parts out and sing about it. It's very cool.
" For more information about "Repo," please visit the official site. (Frankly, nothing we say could do it justice.)
In other Whedonverse news, Jewel Staite has put to rest rumors of a second "Serenity" movie.
"Let's address these Serenity 2 rumors before anything else," wrote Staite on her MySpace blog. "I have no idea what you people are talking about! Seems to me someone (with a name that starts with A and ends in LAN) said something in an interview that was misconstrued as the sequel being green-lit, which is not the case at the moment. I will never say it will never happen, because that's just blasphemy in my opinion, but it's not happening at the moment, ... no matter what you read on the internet. You know better than to believe everything you read, anyway! (except this blog… cuz it's all true.)"
