Guess who Sam and Dean hunt this season? No, really.

Courtesy of the fansite Supernatural.tv, in an interview with the magazine Cult Times Special #45, show creator Eric Kripke revealed an unexpected tidbit about one of the monsters Sam and Dean will face this season.

In addition to drawing on actual urban legends, Supernatural frequently makes homage to horror movies. And in episode 10, the Winchesters (Sam's Jared Padalecki and Dean's Jensen Ackles) will go up against a doozy of a classic character from the genre: Jason Vorhees of Friday the 13th fame, complete with hockey mask. Yes, apparently, the Jason Vorhees. Well, sort of.

"We have cleared the rights to actually use Jason.
We have a twist on it so it's not really Jason out there but we found an interesting way to bring him in," Kripke explains.

Fans of the show will likely greet the news with either groans of protest or amused glee. A stunt, perhaps -- but one that will be hard to resist. As one of the show's new characters would put it, "deep fried crack."

The article has a few other additional hints about season 3's scares, including "bringing Grimm's fairy-tales to life in their original, cannibalistic, horrific ways," and an episode about "an anti-Santa Claus" who slaughters people on Christmas Eve. Kripke also reveals that he will direct another episode this season, episode 20. Eric Kripke directed season 2's "What Is And What Should Never Be." "Directing is so much fun," he told Cult Times. "It was really exhausting and a very gratifying experience."

Supernatural airs on The CW on Thursdays, 9EST/8CT.
