View all articles by Melissa Wilson"Star Trek" casting has taken on a turn for the comedic, with "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" star John Cho and "Shaun of the Dead" star Simon Pegg cast in iconic roles. The Hollywood Reporter says that Cho, better known as "Harold" in "White Castle" and upcoming sequel "Amsterdam," will be playing Hikaru Sulu, the role made famous by George Takei. Pegg, better known as "Shaun" (not to mention his hilarious turn in follow-up flick "Hot Fuzz"), will be Scott, originally played by the late, great James Doohan.
This comes on the heels of news that Eric Bana has signed to play the new film's villain, Nero. Bana is best-known among fannish circles as the guy who starred in Ang Lee's moody "Hulk" adaptation. Green is apparently Bana's best color. Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin have already signed to play Uhura and Chekov, and Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy are both playing Spock. Chris Pine is the front-runner in talks to play Kirk.
I am getting excited about this movie. How about you?
