Sankara Stones and the Holy Grail were a little tough, but I think this time we've really got a great one. The skulls themselves are real and a lot of the stuff in the movie is real, just like in the other movies. We don't base it on a lot of phony-baloney stuff. It's all based on at least true mythology that exists today that ... a certain amount of the population actually believes in."
He added, "There's several different kinds of skulls, several different kinds of theories, several myths that are surrounding them.
Meanwhile, director Stephen Spielberg chatted with online journalists from /Film and IGN about the movie, partly as a thank you for helping to nab the computer thief. Spielberg confirmed that the team had released some of the rumored titles in order to build up steam for the official title release -- "City of the Gods" was one of the titles leaked, even though "Kingdom" has been settled for nearly a year.
Spielberg also said that Lucas wanted to do the film in digital video, but that Spielberg held fast to the traditional film. "I'm not modern," he said. He promised "no MTV-style cutting" within the scenes, easing fears of long-time fans. He confirmed earlier leaks that the Russians are the bad guys this time around. When asked sbout Shia Labeouf's future in the franchise, Spielberg mentioned "big things" in the young actor's future, but Spielberg also told reporters that "Transformers 2" should have a finalized script within a few weeks, so we probably shouldn't hold our breaths for a new hand holding the bullwhip just yet.
