Yesterday, we reported a rumor that Warner Brothers president of production Jess Robinov had declared a moratorium on female-led feature films from the studio. Today, TheMovieBlog managed to get hold of a spokesperson for the company, who categorically denied the rumor: "Mr. Robinov never made that statement, nor is it his policy." The spokesperson went on to say that the original statement went to press before they could respond. (Apparently, no one in the Warner Brothers PR department works weekends.)
Overall? This is a better place than where we were Sunday. Whether or not Robinov did make the statement (and again, the original blogger who broke the story claims to have three sources) the company has come out to say it is not their policy. What's more, now they know we're keeping tabs. Maybe this will mean a nice boost for the Wonder Woman movie. (I still think they need to hire back Joss Whedon.)
