Tired of all the hype about J.J. Abrams and his new crew? Take a trip down memory lane with Shatner, Nimoy and the rest on the silver screen this November.
Fathom Events, the same people who brought us the "Poltergiest" big-screen event earlier this year, are going to put
Star Trek on over 300 movie screens on Tuesday, November 13th at 7:30pm. The tape has been digitally remastered and upgraded to surround sound (claims the official website), so it will be a Trek-viewing experience like, erm, ten others.
The cool part? They're showing "The Menagerie." As anyone who ever donned Vulcan ears can tell you -- and many people who never did -- this two-part episode incorporated the original pilot of the series. Jeffrey Hunter made a lasting impression as Captain Christopher Pike, someone we are likely to become more acquainted with come next Christmas.
From the site:
An in-theatre exclusive greeting from creator Gene Roddenberry’s son, Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry is included, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at how the episodes were digitally re-mastered from the original negatives – including the reinvention of the old TV show special effects using new CGI animation, and the orchestral re-recording of the show’s theme music.
There's even a handy place to input your location to find the nearest theatre.
