The TV Addict asked fans for questions to pass on to Supernatural series creator Eric Kripke, and they recently posted his answers. Kripke offered further hints at what we can expect this season, talked a little about the show's future, and the difficulties of getting more viewers. (spoiler warning)

Season 3, Kripke told TV Addict, is the one he's "personally been waiting for," with Sam and Dean caught in a "very dire war." In addition to Dean's bargaining his soul to save Sam's life at the end of season 2, fans can also look for everything from "Creepy Evil Children" to "Bloody Fairy Tales." The list of the MOTW for season 3 is well in keeping with Supernatural's tradition of taking familiar urban legends or horror tropes and giving them a new twist. Regarding the show's future, he indicated that they have the storyline worked out through the end of season 4 (cynical fans and veterans of shows like The X-Files may or may not want to believe), but that "you figure out so much as you go, you need to leave room to adjust and improve." Kripke added that the leads Jensen Ackles (Dean) and Jared Padalecki (Sam) have heavily influenced the development of their characters.

The showrunner also heeds reactions on online message boards -- taking it with "a big wheel barrow of salt." Although he said he has no problem with spoilers, his main frustration is when fans make up their minds to dislike something before they see the actual episode.

He also talked about the show's audience. Spreading the word about the show has been challenging. While it has a vocal and loyal fan-base, Kripke said it's a "cult hit, not a runaway one," and it doesn't get a lot of advertising, so the staff spends an unusual amount of time promoting.

"We're the best kept secret since the Manhattan Project," he joked.

Supernatural Season 3 premieres Thursday, 10/4 at 9ET/8CT.
