How do you top Spectacular Spiderman? Simple, with even MORE Spectacular. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Television are so pleased with advanced word on the upcoming Spectacular Spider-man cartoon that they've just doubled the episode order, putting the season up to a whopping 26 episodes.
Set at the beginning of the hero's life, the series features a 16-year old Peter Parker who struggles to balance a life fighting crime and learning about his new powers with the pressures of teenage life.
This is a Spiderman as frightened of a pop quiz as he is of Doctor Octopus and the dramatic, and comedic, potential is clear. After all, everyone loves an underdog and there are few heroes who've ever had a harder time than Spidey.
Produced by Culver Entertainment and with Greg Weisman (Gargoyles and The Batman) executive producing alongside producer and supervising director Victor Cook (Hellboy: Blood and Iron), the series will premiere on Kids WB! on the CW Network early in 2008.
