The rock band Kiss has just announced the creation of their own comic book company called Kiss Comics Group, reports Variety. The band has appeared in comics before, beginning with Marvel in 1978, so this isn't a huge leap for them. The company, created by a partnership between Platinum Studios and Kiss Catalog, will start out of the gate with a book called KISS 4K, eventually moving into other platforms such as television, film, online and mobile products.

KISS 4K will tell the story of how the famous foursome transitioned from glam band into "world-protecting warrior spirits." Marketed as the "world's largest comic book" (read: graphic novel) the book is priced at a whopping $50, and will be available in the U.S., Germany, Italy, France and Spain. The book will debut at WizardWorld LA in March. Content to follow includes another book called KISS GIRLS, featuring groupies in the band's makeup, and a weekly online comic.

Said Simmons: "Kiss Comics Group and Platinum Studios -- they are the same as we are. This is a company not burdened with corporate considerations. It's all about the one-on-one."
