The favorite punchline of my teenage years has signed onto ABC's resurrection dramedy.  Paul "Pee-wee Herman" Reubens is joining the cast of buzz-building Pushing DaisiesTV Guide's Michael Ausiello reports that Reubens will be playing "Alfredo Aldarisio, a traveling homeopathic antidepressant representative/salesman."  The role will be a recurring one, assuming the show keeps good ratings.

Reubens is best known for his role as the infantile Pee-wee Herman, though he has also appeared in "Mystery Men" and did a memorable turn as a luckless vampire in the original "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie.  After a run-in with the police during a raid of an adult theatre, Reubens climbed back into quirky stardom by rolling with the jokes.  If Pushing Daisies is keeping the same level of whimsy it shows in the previews, Reubens will be a perfect addiion to the cast.
