May the Schwartz Be With You
Yogurt lives! The 1987 Mel Brooks space farce "Spaceballs" returns in all its zany glory, with bonus toonage.  Variety reports that G4 will be carrying an animated series based on the popular film.  The order is for a pilot and thirteen eps, to begin airing this Fall.  MGM TV is producing the show.  Brooks and Thomas Meehan, who co-wrote the movie with Ronnie Graham, wrote the one-hour pilot, and Meehan will exec produce and script supervise the rest of the episodes. Brooks will reprise the roles of President Skroob and Yogurt.

"Spaceballs" only grossed $38.1 million at the box office, but made it big in the home video market and remains a classic Brooks film, which means it is still heavily quoted by fans and mundanes alike.  Although Brooks famously doesn't "do" sequels, rumors of a "Spaceballs" followup have circulated for years.  (One of the funniest: "Spaceballs III: The Search for Spaceballs II.")
