Everyone wants to direct.  Fans of G.I. Joe, who've been soending a lot of time lately gnashing their teeth at the script bits floating around, now there's a whole new twist to chew on.  Stephen Sommers of "The Mummy" fame is in the lead to helm the Real American Hero film.  IESB got the scoop this weekend that he's been offered the job.  Current rumor pegs him as combining the two script efforts written thus far and meshing them into one story, so expect some origin thrown in with the adaptation.

Over in Hobbiton, Peter Jackson may not be down for the count in the big chair.  The LA Times reports New Line founder Bob Shaye confirming New Line has been in negotiations with Jackson's representatives.  "Yes, that's a fair statement," Shaye said. "Notwithstanding our personal quarrels, I really respect and admire Peter and would love for him to be creatively involved in some way in 'The Hobbit.'"  Considering how bad the blood has been between Jackson and New Line, one can hope the talks are a step towards mending those fences.
