The legendary game is coming to Legendary Pictures. According to
IGN, Blizzard's Chief Operating Officer Paul Sams said at BlizzCon 2007 that the film, previously thought to be dead in the water, is getting a new shot at life. With $100 million to spend, the film will be live action with plenty of CGI. Instead of the "Lord of the Rings" epic journey, "Warcraft" will focus on the tensions among the various races living in the World, culminating in a war. Bolvar Fordragon, Thrall, and Cairne Bloodhoof will likely appear; Arthas likely will not. Teldrassil will probably serve as a major setting.
Legendary Pictures was of course the company that brought the world "300," so if anyone can adapt a fantasy-setting bloodbath that isn't LOTR, it's them. No director has been chosen yet, and no casting announcements have been made.
