The Dresden Files will not be returning for a second season, the SciFi Channel has confirmed.
Star Paul Blackthorne has signed on with a new drama called Big Shots for ABC, starring Dylan McDermott (The Practice), Christopher Titus (Titus), Michael Vartan (Alias), and Joshua Malina (The West Wing) as four high-powered CEOs who spend time at the same golf club. Blackthorne will play "the fifth CEO," the successful man whom they all admire and aspire to be like.
In other casting news, Jessica Collins (The Nine) will be joining the cast of Heroes as Sophie, a woman who works at the organization tracking the heroes.

Okay, SciFi couldn't make a hit out of a show about a wizard named Harry! Part of the SciFi Channel's strategy of becoming the geek wing of Spike TV, I guess, because they're airing wrestling now. The Dresden Files was a cute, smart show that would have worked better on USA, with great character work by Paul Blackthorne and Terrence Mann. (Isn't Burn Notice delightful?)

I agree entirely! Such a shame Dresden didn't get picked up by USA before Paul Blackthorne had to get himself another gig. And yes, Burn Notice rocks!
