Pie.  I love this show like pie.  This week's episode was spot-on perfect with the characters, and the dialogue (*snuggles the dialogue*) and okay, so the plot was right of out Next Gen, but whatever.  Basic plot: people start vanishing, and only Beverly Crusher Jack Carter remembers their existence.

First: the funny.  Vincent's little aside to Carter at the beginning (ending months of speculation on that subject); Fargo's American Idol audition tape; the "ball-buster gene"; "[Stark] was fired weeks ago," *pause* "Okay, brain scan it is"; LARRY!  The genius in this episode is clearly in the dialogue, and it brought the funny again and again.  "Apparently, I have abandonment, entitlement and intimacy issues."  "Congratulations!"  I just love this show to pieces.  Also, I want an ATS if it means I can play in virtual Eureka.

The myth arc continues to unfold quietly.  Henry goes to work in Kim's old lab to search for clues, and he finds Beverly's hidey-hole and a chip.

Beverly's experimental brain device is what nearly kills Carter.  Jack and Henry: "I've got memories and feelings of things that never happened."  "That's gotta be surreal."  Can we get an "Ouch?"

Carter was in top form this week.  He kept following the clues, tried to understand the red herring (nice one, btw) and figured out what was happening and how to fix it.  Since he plays the slightly dumb straight man most of the time, showing that he is also a reasonably intelligent guy (and thus a believable U.S. Marshall) ups the character's realism points.  Here's hoping that stays.

Character-wise, there was subtle among the sledgehammer.  Sure, we knew Carter loves Zoey and Zoey loves Carter and they need each other.  But we also found out who Carter would take with him if he felt he needed to run, and he said "Kevin" before he said "Zoey."  That's nice.  The Carter and Henry interactions stay top-notch buddy-cop stuff, and ask me how happy I am that Henry continues to grow in his characterization completely separate from his interactions with Jack.

Overall, this is a very good episode, even better than last week's outing.  Here's hoping the series continues to shine.
