The Actor That Shall Remain Captain Jack Sparrow has bitten off some hefty roles, including a vampire and a cannibalism-enabling barber.  The barber first: as you can see below, the poster for "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" has been released.  Depp stars in the title role, with Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Sacha Baron Cohen, Timothy Spall, and Anthony Stewart Head.  The film will be released at Christmas.

The other Depp-related news today, courtesy of Variety, is that the actor will be producing and starring in a big-screen adaptation of ever re-envisioned supernatural soap opera Dark Shadows.  Depp will play original emo-boy-with-fangs Barnabas Collins, a centuries-old nightcrawler with a yen for a young lady named Victoria Winters, who is the reincarnated soul of ...  Oh, never mind.  It's a soap opera with ghosts, vampires, time-travel, werewolves, witches, reincarnation, and moody set pieces that fell over more often than the ones on classic Doctor Who.   Jonathan Frid played the original Barnabas, and Ben Cross brought him abck in the '91 revival, and Alec Newman put on the fangs in '04.  It's weird, it' silly, and Warner Brother is throwing Johnny Depp at it.  Of course we'll be following the story.
