Early news out of SDCC courtesy of the Los Angeles Times: Zachary Quinto (Sylar on Heroes) has officially signed to play Spock, ending weeks of speculation about same. Also of interest? Leonard Nimoy has officially been cast to play that very same role. "We have more than one Spock," announced director J.J. Abrams at the Paramount panel, amid cheers, and he brought out Nimoy.
When asked about his own involvement in the project, Nimoy joked, "People keep asking me why I'm doing this movie. The answer is, well, it was logical."
In other Heroes-related news, DC has announced it will publish a hardcover graphic novel based on the hit TV series, according to E! Online. The stories originally appeared on the show's website, where new chapters are available. The book is due out this fall.
