Some rumors are floating around tonight regarding the casting in the next "Potter" flick. According to the Courier-Mail, Naomi Watts has just signed on to play Narcissa Malfoy in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." Joseph Fiennes, Ralph's half-brother, is also rumored to be joining the cast, with the best guess on his role being Tom Riddle Sr. (Marvolo or Morfin are also candidates). The paper says Stuart Townsend (Night Stalker) has signed on, too, but without any other details. MTV.com has received denials from all three actors' agents, which could just mean negotiations are in too early a stage.
In other "Potter" news, author J.K. Rowling says she's sad to see the series go. Reuters reports from an interview Rowling gave with the "Today" show that she felt felt "incredible" for finally being done.
"It's a big sense of achievement," Rowling said. "I mean I am sad, but I think (I was) sadder immediately after finishing writing. I felt devastated. For about a week I was hard to live with after finishing this book. I think the whole thing, it was this amazing cathartic moment, the end of 17 years' work, and that was just hard to deal with for about a week... When I started I wasn't in a bad place, then life had its ups and downs, so Harry has been with me through a lot. I think it was that feeling more than any other, that I wouldn't have that world to retreat into again."
(Has anyone ever mentioned the words "short story" to Rowling?)
