The producers of the CW's Smallville have found a Girl of Steel. People reports that Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort has landed the role of Clark's cousin Kara, who was saved from Krytpon's destruction as a teenager, but who has been in suspended animation until now. She has all of Clark's abilities as well as flight.
Clark will spend the season teaching her how to cope with life on Earth, having a secret identity, and even dealing with romance with a human.
Hundreds of actresses auditioned for the role before Vandervoort made the final cut. Producer Al Gough said, "She was speechless but she was very excited." Vandervoort has appeared on Goosebumps, Instant Star, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, and Mutant X.
