The BBC announced today that cast member Freema Agyeman will be returning to Doctor Who in series four, but only after a stint on spinoff series Torchwood.  When we last saw Martha Jones, she was saying goodbye to the Doctor and heading off to find herself and care for her family, and meanwhile, she'll be putting in some time with the folks at Torchwood 3.

"I can't wait to start filming on Torchwood and the new series of Doctor Who," said Agyeman.

"It's a huge new challenge for me and I'm delighted Russell has decided to expand the character of Martha Jones.'"

Executive Producer and head writer, Russell T. Davies said, "Series three has gained outstanding reviews and Freema has been a huge part of that success, gaining rave notices for her portrayal of Martha. Now we are taking the character of Martha into brand new territory with a starring role in Torchwood."

Stay tuned --- the Beeb says they'll be announcing the name of the Doctor's next companion fairly soon.  For Stateside fans, both Torchwood and series three of Who begin showing in the U.S. later this month.
