This weekend marks the worldwide "Can't Stop the Serenity" event, in honor of Joss Whedon's birthday and benefiting Equality Now. Screenings of the 2005 film "Serenity," the silver screen finale to the prematurely-canceled series Firefly, are being held across the globe today, tomorrow and Sunday, with proceeds going to Whedon's favorite charity. Tonight's screenings are in Chicago, Los Angeles, Arlington, Philadelphia, Portland, and Graz, Austria.
Check the official website for further screenings this weekend. Whedon's birthday is Saturday.
Equality Now is an organization dedicated to helping improve the conditions of women throughout the world, tackling issues such as rape, genital mutilation and spousal abuse by coordinating their efforts with international aid agencies as well as individual activists.
