Kristy Swanson, the actress who originated the role of Buffy Summers in the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" film, was arrested last night and charged with assault, according to People.com.

"I had to go the police station where I had an appointment at 9 p.m. to begin the process of being arrested," said Swanson.

Swanson was charged with allegedly assaulting the ex-wife of Swanson's skating partner and main squeeze Lloyd Eisler, whom she met while taping FOX's Skating With Celebrities.  Swanson claims Eisler's ex, Marcia O'Brien, attacked Swanson in front of Eisler and O'Brien's children.  Swanson says she plans on pressing charges against O'Brien, although when asked about the matter, O'Brien asked, "Why have I not been charged?"  The aituation first came to media attention in 2006 when Eisler and Swanson made headlines after Eiler left (a very pregnant) O'Brien for Swanson, with whom he has since had a child.

Short form: expect this on Springer come the fall.
