To no one's surprise, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" took the top spot in this weekend's ticket sales. With a box office take of approximately $57.4 M, the second film in the franchise tripled the take of runner-up "Ocean's Thirteen," which came in at $19.1 M.  The first "Fantastic Four" film made just over $56.1 M over its opening weekend in 2005.
While the take is higher this time out, it does raise some questions about attendance, which in other current franchises such as Spider-Man and Pirates of the Caribbean has increased from film to film.  A small jump like this one implies a steady sudience rather than a growing one, although the studio doesn't seem to mind.

"We beat the first movie which is really something to crow about," studio spokesman Chris Aronson said to E! Online. "It really worked on all levels from ages 8 to 80 and in certain respects overperformed."
