Rumored ever since 'Revenge of the Sith' premiered, Lucasfilm has finally released trailer footage for a new television series called Clone Wars. Unlike its predecessor of the same name, this series is entirely CGI, and Genndy Tartakovsky is alas nowhere to be seen. Producer Catherine Winder and Supervising Director Dave Filoni talked up the production this past weekend at the Star Wars Celebration IV convention, garnering "Oooos" and "Ahhhhs" from the audience with character designs. Gone are the stylized designs from the animated shorts, given over to greater photorealism.
Plot-wise, the tesm was mostly mum, though they said Count Dooku's dual identity would be explored in greater detail. Also, Filoni "thought initially that Obi-Wan and Anakin wouldn't be main characters," though that appears to have changed greatly.
"A lot of characters you've just seen in the background get to do a lot more," Filoni said, whetting appetites.
And then they showed the trailer.

At first glance, it appears that the new Clone Wars will not be like the previous Clone Wars, much like the prequels were not like the original trilogy. It is probably far too late to kick them off the project and bring back Tartakovsky.
