Keeping with the Star Wars theme this weekend, Fox has announced that the season premiere of Family Guy will be a familiar tale indeed. According to Variety, Lucasfilm has blessed the episode, wherein the events of the first Star Wars film ("A New Hope," for those of you who don't just refer to that one as "Star Wars") are acted out by characters from the series. Peter plays Han Solo, Lois plays Princess Leia, son Chris (Seth Green, living the geek dream) plays oedipally-challenged Luke Skywalker.
Brian is Chewie, Cleveland and Quagmire are the 'droids, creepy old neighbor Herbert is Obi-Wan, and in the role he was born to play, Stewie is Darth Vader. No idea where sister Meg is, although for the truly geeky, it might be fun to see v.a. Mila Kunis reprise her role as a stormtrooper (the same role she had in the That 70's Show Star Wars pastiche).
An hourlong event, this episode has been in the planning stages for over a year. Producer Seth MacFarlane is a big fan of the films and has been working to get Lucasfilm on-board. It is unknown at this time if official Star Wars Drinking Game rules will apply to the episode.
