The quarter in your pocket might carry a face more familiar than usual. According to Variety, 40,000 special edition Silver Surfer quarters have been put into circulation in several metropolitan areas in advance of the release of "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer."  The coins were minted at the U.S. Mint and color-enhanced by the Franklin Mint before being put into the general currency stream.  People who are lucky enough to find one can go online to the website (conveniently printed on the back of the coin itself) to register for prizes like going to the premiere of the film in London, or special screenings for early finders.  Short form: if you're in the U.S. and find a funky quarter (and it's not just someone slipping you a Canadian quarter), check for the Silver Surfer before swearing at the person who gave it to you.

As a followup stunt this weekend, a team of 20 skydivers and a champion sky-surfer will perform an aerial show at the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

The film will open on June 15th.
