South Korean pop star Rain has been cast in the Wachowski brothers' "Speed Racer," reports Mania. Shooting is expected to begin next month in Berlin for the flick, which stars Emile Hirsch as Speed, Matthew Fox as Racer X, and Christina Ricci as Trixie. The role Rain (real name: Jung Ji Hoon) will play is unknown.
One assumes it will involve singing.
Rain has appeared in a few flicks such as "I'm a Cyborg But That's OK" and "Full House," but is virtually unknown in the States. That may change rapidly if he appears in what promises to be a big-budget tentpole film next May. "Speed Racer" of course tells the tale of the love between a man and his souped-up racecar, and his competition with the mysterious Racer X.
