"As long as you're doing it for the right reasons, why not?" said Depp. "If we came up with a story where we could explore something absurd or funny or totally insane." Those particular adjectives sum up Sparrow well. With the right script and a director willing to be a little outrageous, a fourth movie has potential.
On the subject of "outrageous," speaking of working with screen dad Keith Richards, Depp said, "What I didn't expect was he was going to be such a great actor. It was like a gunslinger who arrived in the town, charmed all the women and impressed all the men and then split."
Of course, any real speculation will depend on the success of "PotC: At World's End," which will be opening Thursday, May 24th in some areas. A lackluster take will surely quash any plans of another sequel, and a good haul doesn't guarantee those plans would be made. Still, money feeds the Mouse, and even a DTV would be sure to rake in cash for Disney.
