Luke Ford has been signed to star in "The Mummy 3," according to Variety.  He'll be playing Alex O'Connell, the now-adult son of adventurers/archaeologists Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) and Evie Carnahan O'Connell (Rachel Weisz, who is not returning for the third film).
For the third installment, the family will be travelling to the Himilayas, where they encounter a shape-shifting mummy (Jet Li) who was once a Chinese emperor cursed by a vengeful wizard (Michelle Yeoh).  Miles Millar and Alfred Gough (the minds that brought us Smallville) wrote the script; caveat emptor.  Filming begins in July.

Ford hasn't made much of a splash yet in the U.S.  He appeared in Australian productions McLeod's Daughters and "Kokoda," and just finished up production on "The Black Balloon," a drama about an autistic teen and his brother.
