Director Ridley Scott, previously attached to the project by rumor alone, has signed on to direct the Russell Crowe vehicle "Nottingham," according to Variety. Crowe signed on a few months ago to play the Sheriff of Nottingham, traditionally maligned lawman of the Robin Hood legends. In "Nottingham," the tables are turned.
Robin is a brutal thug, and the noble Sheriff must track him down as he investigates a series of murders. There is even a bonus love triangle, with Maid Marian tossed in between them (er, metaphorically -- that would be a different spin on the tales altogether).
Scott is a fandom favorite. He is currently producing genre darling Numb3rs. He directed "Alien," "Legend," "Thelma and Louise," and "Gladiator," just to name a few projects.
