While X-Philes' hopes rose with the word last week from Frank Spotnitz that a new movie is in development, we have word that everything is in too early a stage to even begin speculation as to casting. According to Wired, a spokesperson for Fox said, "A sequel to 'X-Files' has been in development for quite a while.
" When asked about the return of stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, the spokesperson said, "It's not anywhere near that level yet."
This comes on the heels of Spotnitz's announcement on his blog that: "A script is indeed in development, but I'm afraid that's all I can say."
So, the score stands thusly:
- There is a script being written.
- This has been in the works for a while.
- Nothing's settled yet whether or not the film will ever see the light of day.
Conclusion? The CSM works for Fox.
