Christina Ricci has signed on to star opposite Emile Hirsch in upcoming Warner Bros. flick "Speed Racer," according to an official press release from Warner Bros. She will play Trixie, Speed's patient girlfriend and mechanic. Together, they fight crime. (Well, not really.) Together, they search for glory on and off the racetrack, while competing against the Mysterious Racer X. No word yet on if the monkey will appear.

Jeff Robinov, President of Production at Warner Bros.

, stated, “Christina Ricci is a young actress of extraordinary range, who has become a favorite of both critics and audiences in a wide variety of movies, from mainstream features to acclaimed indie films. She is an amazing talent and we think she is going to do a great job with the role of Trixie.”

Ricci is well-traveled in genre circles. She got an early start as Wednesday Addams in "The Addams Family" films, becoming a role model for millions of demented little girls everywhere. She has gone on to a long career in quirky movies such as "Sleepy Hollow" and "Black Snake Moan." Her addition to the cast speaks of interesting things to come.
