Emmy award-winning actor Roscoe Lee Browne died Wednesday at the age of 81 after a long battle with cancer, according to the Associated Press. Browne's career spanned decades, beginning with New York's Shakespeare Festival Theatre. He worked steadily on stage and on film, refusing what he considered demeaning or stereotypical roles. He was most known for his deep baritone voice, which led to some standout voicework in his later years, most notably as the character Kingpin on the 90's Spider-Man animated series. He also provided guest voices on Freakzoid!, Static Shock and Batman: The Animated Series, and acted as The Narrator in several movies, both credited and uncredited. He won an Emmy for a guest appearance on The Cosby Show.
