I work as a freelance writer of screenplays, web content, articles, and blogs; I love Sci-Fi and truly believe that the genre is the home of the most creative people. I'm not afraid to admit I love reality shows too!
View all articles by Garnet GreeneThis weeks Top Model was a bit of a snooze. For me it's probably the lack of a photo shoot. I really don't like episodes without photos. Also, I feel like this is the dullest group of contestants ever. I don't love anyone. I don't hate anyone. I'm not stunned by anyone's beauty. Maybe next season's petite scrappers will be better. I mean the show's not even cast and they had a scandal already.
Here's this week's highlights:
Challenge: Act with...Clay Aiken??? London did the best and won $5000 worth of Joe's Jeans and then gave some of them away because they didn't fit. Ouch. You would think someone at Joe's Jeans would have asked her for her measurements. Maybe they only come in Joe's size? I like Clay Aiken, but he didn't say much or add much to this episode. I don't understand why he was there. Also, the girls usually get to act with someone extremely hunky. I'm pretty sure they would have preferred Taye Diggs. I guess they can't get him anymore since he's on that other modeling show.
Elimination:
This girl's were judged based on their performances in their first Covergirl commercial. They worked in groups. Aminat was flat and Allison looked confused. London seemed to be selling used cars and Tahlia didn't remember her lines and was wooden.
The judge's comments:
Allison - Tyra liked her "Covergirl" look, but felt her line delivery was a bit dark. Nigel feels she's delivering the same look week after week - he's bored with her.
Aminat - Was called out for her failure to clearly annunciate.
Celia - Got positive feedback although Tyra mentioned that she seemed a bit mature and looked like she was the "auntie" of the other girls.
Fo - Fo fumbled her words and Talia stole her spotlight.
London - Was slouchy and seemed a bit antagonistic. The judges really didn't like her take on the commercial.
Natalie - Was a bit cold and didn't relate to any of the other models in the commercial. The judges felt that London upstaged her even though she was not the lead.
Tahlia - Tahlia was very stiff and -tit for tat- Fo stole the spotlight from her.
Teyona - She did a reasonably good job, but Nigel felt she squinted too much and Tyra didn't like her posing in the beginning of the commercial.
Best Commercial Performance: Celia was chosen, but it was a pretty weak pack.
Elimination: Down to Allison and Tahlia. Tahlia was eliminated because she didn't bring enough enthusiasm and passion to the work.
Drama: Aminat called Natalie arrogant and that certainly seems to be the case. Natalie, is clearly a bit of a snob, and wants everyone to know she's from a wealthy part of LA. The truly wealthy never point out their wealth to anyone. They don't have to.
Hopefully the next episode will be more interesting. I'm not sure these girls have any star quality to speak of. Since the Top Model ends up being more of a "Top Personality" it's a problem for the show. I miss Toccara Jones.
