The American video sharing site has passed the one-year mark of its existence, so FUNimation, as one of its content partners, added new content to the site on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, to mark the occasion. Two anime series are featured as part of this content, and one full-length animated film.
Heroic Age is being offered as a series to Hulu.com before appearing anywhere else. This series chronicles the launch into space of all the races (humanity is the "Iron Race," since they are the last to take the leap), in response to the prophecies of the "Golden Race." But as humanity is threatened with extinction by the "Silver Race," Princess Deianeira must somehow travel through the galaxies to save her people.
Part One of this series will be released everywhere by FUNimation starting on May 12, 2009.
Meanwhile, the baseball-oriented series, Big Windup, saw the first four English-dubbed episodes placed on Hulu's site as well.
This anime follows Ren Mihashi as he graduates to his high school baseball team, and worries that he won't do very well now that he is no longer pitching for the middle school team his grandfather managed. We watch him grow in skill and confidence.
Part One of Season One of this series will not be available in retail until August of this year.
And the full-length animated feature, Origins: Spirits of the Past, has also been added for Hulu users' viewing pleasure. The film features a young man named Agito, who awakens a girl named Toola from a timeless slumber, and sets in motion the destruction of all that Agito has ever known.
So FUNimation is doing its part to help Hulu.com celebrate the milestone of its first birthday.
This celebration, though, is for privileged Americans only, since Hulu.com does not stream for viewers outside the United States. Everyone else is excluded.
