Jared Padalecki, one of the stars of CW's Supernatural, has just signed on to play the painter Thomas Kinkade in "The Christmas Cottage," according to Variety. The film is a biopic of the painter's life and early influences, including Glen Weissler (Peter O'Toole), focusing on how he took up painting in order to help his motehr save the family home. As Kinkade and his wife are among the producers of the film, theatre-goers hungry for an unbiased view of the man and his art will probably keep on wanting.

Padalecki is by far best known for his role as Sam Winchester on cult favorite series Supernatural, where he and screen brother Jensen Ackles travel around the country facing urban legends and cheesy horror plots and making fangirls swoon. He has also appeared on Gilmore Girls and was in the film "The Flight of the Phoenix."
