Old-school Transformers fans, rejoice! (At least if you're near London's West End.) U.K. indie Metrodome Distribution stated that it plans to run a limited rerelease of the 1986 film "Transformers: The Movie" in a theatre in London's West End this May. The buzz is already strong for this summer's upcoming blockbuster film, and Metrodome is hoping to ride the nostalgia wave. The theatrical run ought to help publicize the release of the double-disc DVD of "Transformers: The Movie -- Ultimate Edition," which hits shelves June 4, a full month before the big screen debut of the Michael Bay film.

"Transformers: The Movie" was a watershed moment in the lives of 80's fanbrats.

One of our favorite shows was right there in movie theatres. It had a soundtrack, with some really rockin' tunes. Spike swears. Optimus Prime dies. It launched the next generation of Transformers merchandising and put the kinda-lame Rodimus Prime in charge of the whole shebang. Plus, the voice cast was fantastic (for the time): Eric Idle, Casey Kasem, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Robert Stack, and the man himself, Orson Welles. Like it, loathe it, have it in multiple formats and put the soundtrack on your iPod, if you were a kid and ever even saw the show, you had an opinion on the movie.

Now a few lucky fans will have the chance to relive that experience. If you're in the area, it might be you.
