Kidnapping Kapers, staring Alan Spaulding and Grady Foley
This week on Guiding Light, decisions were made by people moved by their emotions. First off, Cassie Winslow moved to Hawaii with her son R.J. The sendoff was nice, and Nicole Forester showed why she was nominated for an Emmy last year. However, this week's star was Gina Tognoni. Her scenes at Bill's bedside and her angst about leaving for Europe packed its usual emotional punch. I expect her to be nominated for an Emmy again, and win again. I hope Guiding Light doesn't screw up and lose this talent.

Kane Manera is good, but no Tom Pelphrey, whom the show unfortunately lost. Then again, maybe it's not the acting, but the writing. The Grady character isn't very sympathetic. His confession of the kidnapping to Alan Spaulding and the ultimate deal they made made me ill. I don't see how Kane can move to a fan favorite with this storyline. Daisy just looks foolish going after him. I like the Chip character. I hope the show brings him back. If Olivia and Natalia can get Rafe out of jail, that would make a great love triangle - Rafe, Daisy, and Chip. Personnaly, I'd like Chip, with his dark looks, to be a Santos. That way the show could bring back Danny and Michelle. Guiding Light is spotty, some weeks interesting, others boring. The show needs a steady heroine and hero, not all this bouncing around. I feel there's no one to root for.

I also wish Dinah would get back with Mallet. I know the actors playing Mallet and Marina are a couple in real life, but I don't think it transposes to the screen. Pair Marina back with Shayne when he returns in December. Those goody-two shoes are a better match. Mallet and his shady past are a better fit with Dinah.

Let's hope Bill wakes up next week. That would up the drama, and put the evil Spaulding-Foley plan into action.
