Pauley Perrette, who plays the perky Goth forensics whiz Abby Scioto on the CBS hit NCIS, is waging a grass roots campaign against California Proposition 8. Proposition 8 seeks to make a change to the California constitution to ban gay marriage.

The actress, who describes herself as a "Christian, churchgoing, Bible-quoting, praying, thinking civil rights activist" opposes the constitutional amendment that would eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in the state of California. In a video posted to YouTube, and in a letter sent to “everyone in her address book” and posted to Advocate.com, she explains her position and the passion behind it.

In the interview, she explains her passionate opposition to Prop 8, discusses her upbringing in the Deep South, and gives us an update on her plans to marry fiancé’ Michael Bosman, and her position on organized religion.

As she tells Advocate.com, “I support gay rights and civil rights for all. Bring it on; I'm ready.”
